William Heinemann, 1958. Reprint. Hardcover. Good Condition/Poor. Illustrator: Illustrated. preface and introductory by author index and appendix of eight anatomical plates in colour. Yellow coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Plain text dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. A book that was first published in 1928, and deals with the then, very taboo subject of sexuality, sexual organs, sex in general within a marriage. The author goes into such titles as psychic, emotional and mental hygiene; general human sexual physiology and definitions, Prelude and love play. At the rear of the book are eight coloured plates showing various cutaways of male and female sexual organs. Softening and darkening of the back strip edges with bumping of the book corners. Some sunning and foxing of the book panels with sunning to the back strip edges – commensurate with loss of dustwrapper stop tanning and light foxing of the text block edges; age toning of the pages. Offset tanning and foxing to the end pages with original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down – this has ghosted onto the free front end page. The dustwrapper is in very poor shape – please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners, top back strip edge with the lower 2 inches of the lower edge missing, large 'V' shape piece missing from the top left-hand corner of the front panel and are smaller 'V' shaped piece missing from the top right-hand corner of the rear panel. Creasing and some tearing of the dustwrapper edges. Sunning and foxing of the dustwrapper panels with fading of the back strip. Foxing to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 298 pages,.
