About This Item
London: William Pickering, 1831. Vellum. Very Good. 4" by 2.5". Not Stated. A smart copy of infamous ancient Greek works of literature, the 'Iliad' and the 'Odyssey', in miniature version, by renowned Greek author and poet, Homer. A miniature edition of Homer's famous epic poems, Iliad and Odyssey. These poems are set in the Trojan War, and the Iliad focuses on the period during the last year of the war and the Odyssey focuses on epic hero Odysseus's journey home after the war. Written by ancient Greek poet Homer during the 8th century B.C., these are widely considered to be some of the oldest written works in the Western world. In the original Greek. Bound in full vellum with marbled endpapers. Containing a frontispiece portrait of Homer. Bound in full vellum flexible boards. Externally, smart. Boards slightly discoloured, as is common with vellum binding, and a few light marks to the boards. Flexible boards are slightly bowed, with yapp edges. Internally, firmly bound. A few spots to the frontispiece, and a few holes to the front free-endpaper, title page, and page 271. Pages contain the odd spot or handling mark, but are generally bright and clean. Very Good
