Reader reviews for The Illustrated Guide to Technical Analysis Signals and Phrases

From the publisher

Virtually all technical analysis is visual. There are literarily hundreds of chart patterns, signals, and phrases that can give the trader numerous trading opportunities. You can talk all you want about setups, formulas, or how to use the signal, but in the end it all comes down to actually looking at a chart pattern and making a trading decision. The problem, of course, is that with so many possible charts, no single book can include both the textual explanation and the chart for every pattern; often the chart is not included. This leaves many traders wondering exactly what a pattern looks like. Numbers crunchers and quants are especially confused, since they are usually looking for a formula without realizing that a picture is what they need. The Illustrated Guide to Technical Analysis Signals and Phrases provides hundreds of charts that illustrate just exactly how each pattern looks. The book does not offer any description of setups, formulas, or explanations. The book is nothing more than very simple and clean charts with visually clear notations: e.g., a circle to highlight a key reversal or arrows to show the key points in a head-and-shoulders formation. the pattern being illustrated. The author provides an introduction explaining what the book does, how to use the book, and how it is organized. For easy reference for the reader, the book provides two types of lists: - an alphabetical listing of every pattern - a list of the patterns grouped by subject (such as support/resistance) The Illustrated Guide to Technical Analysis Signals and Phrases is not intended to teach readers how to use a particular signal or setup the indicator; that job is left to the many worthwhile books already published. The book simply clarifies what a pattern or phrase looks like and includes variations on the signal (such as strong/weak). Since the charts show the outcome of the pattern, no explanation is needed. There are many good books that discuss setups or how to use a signal to trade, but no book has the room to offer an actual picture of what each pattern, signal, or phrase actually looks like. This book fills that gap.
