About This Item

Edinburgh: A. Fullarton & Co., 1876. Book. Good. Half-Leather. Unknown. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Edinburgh, A. Fullarton & Co., 1876. Edition unstated. 4to. Black leather covered spine and corners, with red title field on spine, gilt lettering and designs embossed on spine over black boards with marbled edges on text block, endpapers decorated with marbling, illustrated frontispieces in each book, one and two page maps in color, illustrated with etched plates, Volume I: 1191 pp, Volume II: 1153 pp, plus 95 pp index. "The Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales; embracing recent changes in counties, dioceses, parishes, and boroughs: general statistics, postal arrangements; railways systems, &c; and forming a complete description of the Country". Rare! Shelf wear on bindings, front board on Volume I has 3.5" raised circle, owner name and a few notations and foxing to varying degrees on pages, pages just starting to tan, but not brittle. Text still quite legible; lots of life (and history) left in these 130+ year old books! Good..
