A fictional novel by Noel Langley. The first edition. With illustrations by Ronald Searle, regarded to the flyleaf as 'one of the most brilliant of the new post-war artists and illustrators. This work deals with Dante's love for Beatrice and focuses on a young Dante. Noel Langley was a South African novelist, screenwriter and director. He is known for writing the screen-play which formed the basis for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. In original cloth covered boards and held in original dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Small amount of rubbing to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Further light rubbing to the joints. Dustwrapper is chipped to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Loss to the head of front wrap and to the head and tail of rear wrap due to chipping. Further loss to the head and tail of spine. Marks to the wraps. Tape repairs internally to works. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout. Very Good Indeed
