London: John Bale & Staples Limited, 1940. Very scarce. First Edition. Burgundy cloth covered hardback boards with gilt titles to front and spine. No date, but preface dated July 1940 and neat owner's name, and rank, to front dated June 1941. A guide to facial reconstruction, and treating war casualties, with surgery and dentistry. Includes graphic photos and illustrations of war related injuries. Boards in very good condition. Endpapers are age toned, but the rest of the book is clean and bright; including the glossy photo paper used for illustrations. xi, 199 pages - including index. 250 x 160 mm (9¾ x 6¼ inches). William Warwick James OBE was one of the foremost dental surgeons of his time; and a pioneer in maxillofacial surgery. Benjamin William Fickling CBE was a dentist and doctor who played a major part in the development of oral and maxillofacial surgery as a specialised discipline. A seminal work by these two specialists.
