About This Item
London: for T. Cadell & W. Davies, 1804. Second edition, with improvements and large additions, 8vo, pp. xv, [1], 434; front hinge cracked, spine mostly perished with some traces of paper label present, occasional foxing, else good in original paper-covered boards. Mitford (1744-1827) was the author of a popular history of Greece as well as a number of other works. His Inquiry was first published in 1774 and it appears to be his only philological work.
