A complete two volume set of An Introduction to a History of Woodcut which is richly illustrated throughout. A first edition copy of the two volumes of An Introduction to a History of Woodcut With a Detailed Survey of Work Done in the Fifteenth Century by Arthur M. Hind, who was Keeper of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum. The first volume considers primitive woodcuts and single cuts and block-books, looking at the origin of woodcut, with a survey of single cuts before the period of book illustration.The second volume considers book illustration and contemporary single cuts from different countries including Germany, Spain and France. The first volume has a frontispiece and over the two volumes there are four hundred and eighty-three illustrations throughout the text. Collated, complete. Both are in the original unclipped dust wrappers Both volumes are in the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light bumping to the head and tail of both spines. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Both are in the original unclipped dust wrappers which are smart. Fading to the spines and chipping to the heads of the spines and some marks to the wraps. Very Good Indeed
