About This Item
New York: Four Winds Press, 1971. Hardcover. illustrated with a nice doublespread line map of the Pacific and routes taken by The Snark, plus a goodly number of b&w archival photographs, first edition hardbound cloth boards lettered black and enclosed in the dust jacket. Fore-edge of book itself and rear endsheets are faintly foxed and the dust jacket is rubbed and edgeworn with a short marginal tear. A very good copy. A dust jacket note: expect a small foil label wrapping round the heel that reads "Reinforced Binding". There may or may not have been two styles of casebinding; parent press to Four Winds was Scholastic, an education-oriented press that would take notice of weak vs. strong bindery-work, and hence irrelevant to normal trade issues.
