Yellow wrapper printed in red and black; wood-engraved wrapper design signed "E.P.C." (Edward P. Cogger). Caption title: The History of Jackey Jingle and Sukey Single. Publisher's advertisements on back wrapper for Aunt Mary's Little Series, Sunshine Series, Aunt Grumble's Series, Uncle Frank's Series, Mother's Series, and Aunt Effie's 12mo. Toy Books. The absence of a date of publication and a street address suggest this was issued in the 1870s. Former owner's inscription inside front wrapper: David G. Stoddard, Chenango Forks, New York. Tells the story of Jackey and Sukey at school and courtship, including a description of Jackey as a blacksmith's apprentice. In Very Good condition: old hand-stitching of spine; faint writing at head of front wrapper; lightly soiled. A solid and bright example of this scarce McLoughlin Brothers children's book.
