The first edition, first printing.In the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.A collection of poetry from the noted American writer DuBose Heyward, known for the novels 'Porgy' and 'Mamba's Daughters'.The titular poem was first published in 1924, with this volume including 'some new lyrics, as well as the best of his earlier works'. These poems include 'love poems, narratives, and poems on his favourite negro themes'. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. A touch of shelf wear to back strip tail, otherwise externally excellent. Dust wrapper age toned to back strip, with wraps bright. Minor losses of paper to back strip head and tail. Small closed tear to head of front wrap, and three small closed tears to the head of the rear wrap. Small tape repair to head of reverse of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Fine
