Eight full page plate showing samples of actual oil- and water- paints and water-colours on tipped in slips of paper, also numerous text illustrations. Some off setting from the frontis illustration onto the title page and some similar off setting from other plates to text pages. Ownership inscription to blank verso of the title page. Some age browning to page edges, otherwise contents clean and tight. Bound in original purple cloth with gilt title to upper board and spine. Rubbing to head and tail of the spine and outer corners of boards. Darkening to spine and lesser so to front inner board edge, small printed Label to upper cover "C Wright, Scotter? corresponds with ownership signature in the book. The binding tight with no splits
