About This Item

New York: Atheneum, 1967. Stated First Edition 4to size blue cloth bound hardcover with dust jacket; unpaginated, about 30 heavyweight glossy pages. The book could be taken apart to frame the brightly colored, full page drawings if you are so inclined. From jacket: "When John F. Kennedy was killed, many people the world around experienced a personal loss as well as a public loss. Since his death, that loss has been expressed in many ways, but few more intimate than Jacqueline Duheme's presention in this book. Miss Duheme became acquainted with the Kennedy's because they had admired some of her drawings. In her introduction she relates some of her experiences with the family and her feelings for them... I hope that something of my love and admiration for Jack Kennedy will be conveyed through the 19 little tableaux with which I have attempted to describe his life. Of course, my paintings are meant for children, and if my images appear naive, as some will say, it is because that is how I see the world." Miss Duhume may be best known for her child-like illustrations. Her work continues to sell at auction world-wide. Jacket has an inch long tear at spine, a small chip missing at top and a tiny chip near top right along with edgewear and price sticker on front, back of jacket also has a chip missing and several small tears. Fep is filled with an inscription. . First. Cloth. Good/Fair. Illus. by Duheme, Jacqueline. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
