NEAR FINE Limited edition (1000 copies printed). Gray cloth exteriors with blue lettering and his signature dog on the cover. No dustjacket. Light shelfwear to cover corners and edges. Crisp, clean, unmarked interior pages. Satire. 287 pages, 9.5" X 12.25X X 1.5" John T. McCutcheon was an American political cartoonist, war correspondent, combat artist, and author . This covers the full breadth of his career, and reproduces his newspaper work from a 40 year career, including his Pulitzer Prize winning cartoon from 1931 "a Wise Economist Asks a Question". Includes some of his earliest work in the Purdue university paper "Debris" and stories, cartoons, and reporting from The Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Daily News, the Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, Cosmopolitan, as well as sketches from the Art Institute of Chicago. Political cartoons (no index and some pages with multiples), probably more illustrations than pages.
