About This Item

New York: Cameron & Kahn, 1955. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Very Good-. Rockwell Kent (dust jacket illustration). Stout 8vo. Pp. 672. Pp. xiv, 672. With a synopsis of the government's case; a chronology of events. Appendices. Index. Bound in tan half-cloth over brown boards, black lettering and rules on spine. Errata slip, creased, is laid in. One corner a tad bumped. In the illustrated dust jacket that shows light edge-wear, spine a bit darkened, and a closed half-inch tear midway along fold where front panel meets spine. Playwright Wexley is perhaps best known for The Last Mile, but forsook the stage for screenwriting, where his career brought us Angels with Dirty Faces and Hangmen Also Die. His career cratered after Edward Dmytryk ratted him out in HUAC hearings; blacklisted, he moved to a quite life in Pennsylvania. This treatment of the Rosenberg case appears exhaustive: it includes the entire Columbia Law Review summary of the case. As a doorstop it's quite comely, with the sympathetic Rockwell Kent dust jacket presenting a downtrodden woman half-kneeling with a pool of blood flowing below. Dust jacket now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
