Four pages of adverts to the rear of Volume II and III.Including an errata for all four volumes to the rear of Volume IV.A monumental work on the law, relating to the justices of the peace. For many years this work was the standard authority on the subject.The work lays out the proper legal proceedings in consideration to many crimes or issues that are likely to appear. Burn also discusses the formation behind the justice of the peace.Crimes and issues discusses in this work include excise, customs, homicide, robbery, libel, polygamy, assault, and more.Published in the midst of Georgian England, this work shows the development of the system of local governments across the country.Written by the English legal writer Richard Burn, also a noted antiquarian.Lacking the rear endpaper of Volume III. In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with patches of rubbing and some light marks to the boards and spines. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Spines are a little faded. Small damp stain to the head of the front board of Volume I and IV. Small white mark to the front board of Volume II, and small patch of loss to the rear board of Volume II and III, smaller to Volume III. Light spots to the fore edges. Evidence of a bookplate being formerly adhered to the front paste downs. Lacking the rear endpaper of Volume III. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Very Good
