Paris: Calmann-Levy, 1923. Leather. Near Fine. 5" by 7.5",. None. A copy of L'Abbe Constantin written by Ludovic Halévy (1 January 1834 - 7 May 1908) was a French author and playwright. He became a member of L'Academie Francaise Previously owned by Sir (George) Trenchard Cox (19051995), a British museum director. He worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Gallery, British Museum and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. An ink inscription to the front blank simply states 'Trenchard Cox. E Libris. Paris. September 1926' Original Paper wrap bound within. In a gilt half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, lovely condition with just some very slight shelfwear to the paper of the boards. Internally, firmly bound, generally bright and clean with just some marginal age toning. Near Fine
