Novel based on the legend of Lady Godiva, "filled with the bawdy wit of its era.& the excitement of conflict between man & woman." 243 pages. A First Edition, later (M-W) printing from 1948, this hardcover octavo has burgundy cloth over boards embossed with an image of Lady Godiva on horse to front & gilt lettering to spine. Condition is VG: clean, with modestly tanned pages, heavier to endpapers. Binding straight & strong. Old sticker residue to ffep; NO writing or underlining or highlighting; not ex-lib. Significant rubbing to lower edges & all corners/both ends of spine. The clipped DJ is Good+, reinforced by previous owner on the inside with brown packing tape to all edges.
