Found in the original dust wrapper. A first edition of Land by Irish novelist Liam O'Flaherty. Found in the original dust wrapper. O' Flaherty's thirteenth novel concerns the Irish land uprisings of the late nineteenth century when Irish nationalist politician when Charles Stewart Parnell was campaigning for land reform. Flaherty was one of the foremost socialist writers in the early twentieth century, and this novel portrays the struggles between British landlords and their Irish tenants. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. From the library of John Legonna, who was a farmer, who spent much of his life involved in the politics and culture of Wales and Celtic countries, founding the New Nation Group and its magazine, Climeri. With a sticker from booksellers and stationers E.C. Haylock and Sons to the front pastedown. In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, smart. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine. The wrap is rather stained, particularly to the spine and fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some foxing to the fore edge of the text block, pages are bright and clean. Very Good
