About This Item
BURNETT, Frances Hodgson. That Lass o' Lowrie's. Illustrated by Alfred Fredericks. NY: Scribner, Armstrong, 1877. 12mo, viii 269pp + [6] advts. Black cloth decoratively stamped in red and gilt. 4 b&w plates. Spine ends, corners, and bottom edge all lightly worn, spine slightly cocked, some slight to covers, endpapers a bit aged, a touch of foxing to title, frontispiece, and tissue guard, contents lightly shaken and with a few pages hand-soiled. Still an attractive book with a surprisingly bright spine.
First edition. Frances Hodgson Burnett's first novel! A spirited heroine raised in grim, impoverished surroundings with a brutal, abusive father, struggles to protect those weaker than herself and falls for a man above her social station. Classically Victorian.
