About This Item
London: The Partington Advertising Company, 1903. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 5.5". Frederic Remington; E. W. Deming. A smart new edition of this illustrated biography of American soldier, bison hunter, and showman, "Buffalo Bill". New edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and ten plates. Collated complete. The biography of one of the most famous and well-known figures of the American Old West, William Frederick Cody, or Buffalo Bill, an American soldier, bison hunter, and showman. He founded Buffalo Bill's Wild West in 1883, and took his large company on tours across the United States and, in 1887, to Europe. Written by his sister, Helen Cody Wetmore, an American author. Illustrated by Frederic Remington, an American painter and illustrator, and Edwin Willard Deming, an American painter, illustrator, and sculptor. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Scattered spotting to the endpapers. Very Good
Reviews
On Feb 29 2016, a reader said:
For American histories of early west, this is an enjoyable book that traces W.F. Cody's family trials in Kansas and his youth and coming of age -- beginning after his fathers murder by Pro-Slavery advocates at 12 on the western plains as well as his participation in the Civil War. Especially interesting was learning he was born in Iowa. I have a nice 1909 copy.
