Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1945. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Carl Rose. introduction by editor and index. The text is illustrated with black-and-white drawings by Carl Rose. Red coloured cloth covered boards with green coloured illustration to the front panel and green and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Dark red coloured tint to the top textblock edge. Title says it all. Softening to the back strip edges and the top edge is slightly frayed. Bumping and rubbing to the book corners with rubbing of the lower book edges. Flecking of the book edges and there is quite significant fading of the back strip along with some foxing. Light browning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. Offset tanning to the end pages and previous owner's name to the free front endpaper. There is a stain on the front fore edge of the free front endpaper and half title page.
