Undated By Worldcat And Old Pencil Note On Title Page Indicate 1867 Date Of Publication Which Appears To Be Correct. Finely Bound In Full Tree Calf, Red Morocco Spine Label, Spine Ornately Gilt In All Compartments, Gilt Edges, Gilt Turns, Marbled Endpapers And Matching Albeit Faded Marbling To Edges Of Page Block. 50 Hand-Colored Illustrations At Front, Black And White Illustrations Throughout Text. No Names Or Marks. Text Block Square, Entirely Unworn And Undamaged, A Few Tiny Areas Of Foxing On Some Pages. Binding With Wear At Edges, Tiny Frays At Tips; Joints Cracked But Boards Stoutly Held By Cords. Ean-Emmanuel-Marie Le Maout ( 1799 - 1877 ) Was A French Naturalist And Botanist . In 1842 He Took The Degree Of Doctor Of Medicine And, Turning To The Study Of The Teaching Of The Natural Sciences , Was Attached As A Demonstrator To The Faculty Of Medicine, And Then Opened Private Lectures In Literature And Natural History . He Was Decorated With The Legion Of Honor 12 August 1869 . All Editions Of This Work Are Scarce.
