About This Item
Herkimer, NY: Herkimer Diamond Mines, Inc. , 1998. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Verkruysse, T.S. . Near Fine - very. See scans and description. Herkimer, NY: Herkimer Diamond Mines, Inc., no date but circa 1998. Dale Corey's exotic and entertaining children's fiction version of how the Herkimer Diamonds Mines were found. The mines are real mines of real Herkimer Diamond (a very special and very old, doubly-terminated variety of quartz, in fact), in and around Herkimer; while this tale is not, in fact, how they were found - it will delight the youngsters. Illustrated throughout in color by T.S. Verkruysse. Signed and inscribed on the title page by owner of the mines, Dr. Renee Scialdo Shevat, to Senator Charles Schumer, sometime in 2002; provenance to purchase on request. Quarto, glossy boards illustrated by Verkruysse, 31 pp. Near Fine - in fact, As New, but for a very faint stain at the lower inner corner of title and preface pages. Zoom on those scans. A collectible, signed, inscribed first edition in superior condition, very scarce in any form. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box, of course; not a bag. L45n
