New York: The Viking Press, 1944. Hardcover. Edited by Beatrice Kaufman and Joseph Hennessey. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt spine lettering, dust jacket. xxiv, 410pp. Illustrations. Near fine/very good. Jacket faintly edgeworn. First edition, tight and nice, of correspondence ranging from 1897 to 1943 by the popular wit, Algonquin Round Table member, critic, radio personality, playwright and sometime actor (1887-1943). Tipped to front flyleaf is a 5" X 2" slip bearing an extra large, extra bold Woolcott signature in thick black grease pencil, below which he dates it "1-15-38." Very good. Lightly age toned and slightly foxed.
