A smartly bound limited edition complete set of this collection of letters and literary works from English poet Edward FitzGerald. Complete in seven volumes. First collected edition. Limited to one hundred and seventy-five copies. With a frontispiece to each volume. The letters and literary works of Edward FitzGerald, an English poet and writer noted for the first and best-known English translation of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Volume one contains letters dated from 1831 to 1852; volume two contains letters dated from 1852 to 1871; volume three contains letters dated from 1871 to 1878; and volume four contains letters dated from 1878 to 1883 with an index of all letters. Volume five contains six dramas from Calderon; volume six contains The Mighty Magician, Such Stuff as Dreams are Made of, Euphranor, Agamemnon, and The Downfall and Death of King Oedipus; and volume seven contains The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and seventeen other works. With the bookplate of William Alfred Westropp Foyle, a British bookseller and businessman who co-founded Foyles bookshop in 1903 with his brother Gilbert Foyle. Previously held in the library of Christopher Foyle, a British philanthropist and chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. Bound in half green calf with green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and light fading to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting throughout. Minor age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good Indeed
