Liberty ships were the product of certain shipyards in the United States during the eventful years between 1941 and 1945 and formed the "emergency" part of a shipbuilding programme which had been started by the United States government some five years previously, in 1936, with the advent of the United States Maritime Commissionn. The sequence of details for each ship are: yard number, original name of ship, completion date, engine maker and history.
