Hard cover in fine condition with faux brown leather boards, copper gilt lettering and decoratives on spine; front board with copper gilt stamp of Lady Liberty's head from a photograph by Peter B. Kaplan. End papers contain facsimile pages of names, with age, occupation, etc, completed by incoming immigrants. Interior text block clean & tight; no writings, no markings noted. Glossy pages throughout with color and black & white photographs on almost every page, many full page, along with detailed written history. Size 9"" wide x approx 103/4"" tall x 1"" thick; 304 numbered pages. Dust jacket very good with light shelf and edge wear; closed tear on front near spine.No price clipped; there is no price. * Volume was compiled and printed in honor of the Centennial of the Statue. Amazing story of the Statue itself along with Chapters which tell the detail story via narrative, historical documents, and photographs of the masses that passed through Ellis Island after seeing the Statue as they approached the New World: The lands they came from, their hopes and dreams in the promise of a young land, the shock of the Great City of New York, theirs years of hope and struggle and the enduring dream.
