About This Item

New Providence, New Jersey, U.S.A.: Rr Bowker Llc, 1974. Minor edge and corner wear, lightly scuffed and scratched, no dj, corners are lightly bumped and rubbed, gently shelf worn, some light outer page edge soil, 5 library discard stamps on the outer page edges and one on the ffep and rfep as well, overall a clean used copy! Orange cloth with black and white lettering on the front cover and spine. 385 very clean unmarked and uncreased informative and educational pages! "In the last ten years, six editions of theLibrarian's Practical Dictionary have been published for the use of the library cataloging departments. The first and second editions (1963-1964) were geared toward librarians whose leading language was Hungarian, while the main language of the third, fourth, and fifth editions (1969-1970-1971) is German. The present sixth edition is based on English, since the practical significance of English in the world of library science is a long-standing fact. The favorable reception of the previous editions has shown that my main purposes ---- easy handling, practicality and international use ---- have been achieved. This is why the editor has retained the same goals for this sixth, completely revised and enlarged edition, with English as the main language. These principles are the following: 1. The number of languages was dictated by actual needs. 2. To insure practicality, a special layout was needed. 3. The dictionary is suitable for international use. 4. The 22 languages can be used in 462 different bilingual combinations, thus forming 462 bilingual word lists (glossaries)." ---- from the Preface to the Sixth Edition. 6th Revised and Enlarged Edition. Orange Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
