The third novel by Charles Dickens, originally published as a serial in 1838-39 and in book form in 1839. Undated edition circa 1930-35, printed from one corrected by the author in 1867-68. 720pp illustrated with black and white drawings. Gilt lettering to spine, top edges tinted. Slight bumping to spine and corners and rough cutting to top edge of title page, otherwise good copy with no inscriptions..
Synopsis
Nicholas Nickleby is left responsible for his mother and sister when his father dies. The novel follows his attempt to succeed in supporting them, despite his uncle Ralph's antagonistic lack of belief in him. It is one of Dickens' early comic novels.
