New York: Historical Society, 1940. First Edition. Thick Octavo. 470 pp. Inscribed by the author. Emma Thursby was one of the first American singers to achieve renown in Europe, and one o the few native New York women to ain distinction in music. The author while he knew nothing about music he had met her in 1928 and became friends until her death at 83 in 1931. He had the honor of writing about her life. Bound in rust cloth lettered and ruled in gilt, spine lettering gilt, Marbled endpapers,faint dampstain to upper edge 378-379, and rear free endpaper. A very good copy.
