Sixty one full page photographs (plates & maps). The first lengthy biography of Burton after the sanitized life written by Burton's widow in 1894. Wright had access to extensive and previously unpublished correspondence between the Burtons, plus the ability to personally interview many who had known Burton. Book label of John G. Kidd & Son, Cincinnati. Clean, fresh set, raised bands. gilt arabesques in panels and maroon spine title in gilt. Spine evenly faded.
