Spence was well in advance of his time. The concept of the General Strike and of Land Nationalisation were first outlined by Spence. He had a conscious working-class point of view and not only expressed his ideas in numerous pamphlets but tried to put them into practice. This book by Mary Ashraf is the result of many years of research and is the most comprehensive account of Spence's life and work yet published.
