Signed by Paul Bowles and dated Tangier - 16 / VIII / 93 without inscription on half title. Octavo (20.5cm); 222pp. Keith Vaughan-illustrated dust jacket with 9s. 6d. net price intact. Light green cloth boards with dark green spine label and gilt lettering to spine. Final two leaves uncut along majority of fore-edge. Jacket lightly rubbed with minor creasing along edges and mild rubbing to spine and rear. Boards very lightly shelfworn and sunned along edges. Binding is sound and pages unmarked. Overall a Very Good or better copy of Bowles' first collection of stories, published a year after The Sheltering Sky.
