Four volumes in full calf bindings. Bookplates to the front paste downs. Lives of the Most Eminent English Poets (1779–81), alternatively known by the shorter title Lives of the Poets, is a work by Samuel Johnson comprising short biographies and critical appraisals of 52 poets, most of whom lived during the eighteenth century. In full calf bindings. Externally, rubbed to the boards and extremities. Losses to the spines. Boards tender and held by two cords to Vol I; front board to Vol IV is tender and held by one cord; front board to Vol II is tender and held by two cords. Joints starting to Vol III but are still firm. Endbands missing to Vol III and IV. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, except for a little spotting to the first and last pages. Good Only
