New York: Harcourt, Brace, and Co., 1948. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good/Fair. 12mo. 166 pages. Hardcover in yellow and grey dust jacket. The jacket is rubbed and worn and has a ring mark on front cover. The jacket is not price-clipped, and the copyright page states "First Edition." The foot of the spine and the bottom corner the jacket's front panel is chipped. There is also a V-shaped chip at top of jacket's rear panel. Black cloth binding has spotting at top edges of boards. Original owner's pencil inscription reads, "Mary Stamp Subline (?) / from Nancy Hale Bowers / October, 1948." Nancy Hale Bowers was an American novelist and short story writer. Text has light toning at edges. The author was an English teacher at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now known as UNCG).
