No markings, two small faint spots to back cover, else Near Fine in price-clipped Very Good dust jacket with a couple of small tears to edge of Dj; DJ in mylar sleeve. Lovely patterned black cloth with gold titles on red spine title block, xx, 271pp, index, B&W illus and photographic plates. This book presents the entire history and cultural significance of the Chinese lute. The author has collected an enormous amount of material relating to this musical instrument: rare books, old manuscripts, antique Chinese and Japanese lutes, scrolls, etc. He was taught to play the lute by the late Yeh Ho-fu, a famous Chinese master. (2.5 JM HOJ 300/b2. 2nd. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾".
