About This Item
London: Hamish Hamilton, 1982 . First edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 9.5" by 7". John Lawrence. The first edition of this beautifully illustrated work by Susan Hill describing a year spent in her home Moon Cottage in Oxford. First edition of The Magic Apple Tree A Country Year by Susan Hill in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. A fine copy of this work describing a year in the author's home, Moon Cottage, in Barley near Oxford. The work is in four sections, each for a season of the year, in which she describes the beauty and changes of the nature in her surroundings. A lovely depiction of country life. Susan Hill is an English author and novelist. She is best known for her novels 'The Woman in Black' and 'The Mist in the Mirror'. She is the recipient of many literary awards including the 1972 Whitbread Novel Award for 'The Bird of Night'.Illustrated throughout with engravings by John Lawrence. In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. To the dust wrapper, there are some small creases to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean. Fine
