London: William Heinemann, 1931. Leather. Very Good. 9" by 6". None. A signed limited edition copy of 'Maid in Waiting', one of the Forsyte chronicles by John Galsworthy. This edition was limited to 525 copies. This is number 472. Signed by the author to the 'limited edition' page. In the original binding with cloth boards, a vellum spine and gilt detail. John Galsworthy was an English novelist and playwright, who dedicated virtually his entire literary career to the establishment of a fictional Victorian family known as the 'Forsytes'. This book is part of the 'Forsyte Chronicles' and is the first book in the 'End of Chapter' trilogy. A story of reputation and family politics. In the original quarter vellum binding. Externally, very smart with some light shelf wear only. Handling marks to the vellum spine and a few red ink marks to the front board. Offsetting to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Age-toning to the free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Authors ink signature to the edition page. Pages very bright and clean with only some light age-toning to the edges. Very Good
