London / New York: Macmillan and Co, 1888. Hardcover. Very Good -. xx, 422, [2] p., frontispiece and 9 leaves of plates; 20 cm. Dark green cloth with gilt stamped spine title and gilt stamped decoration on spine and front cover. Top page edges gilt. Dark green endpapers. Small engraved bookplate on front fixed endpaper of John Reichard. The author, Margaret Wilson Oliphant (1828-1897), was a prolific Scottish writer of works of history and biography, and of fiction. In Very Good- Condition: slightly cocked; cover is lightly rubbed; ends of spine starting to fray; pages and plates are clean and tight.
