This is a wonderful peek back in time at New Hampshire's "Queen City" - "MANCHESTER UP TO DATE - Story of the City 1846-1896" by David Lane Perkins. 1896 1st edition; George F. Willey; Manchester, NH. The book is profusely illustrated with photographs, drawings, and vignettes throughout. "Stories, Anecdotes, and Biographical Sketches of Prominent Manchester Men." Presentation copy with "Compliments of Publisher" written in ink on the front end paper. Contents include Manchester Historical Publications; Willey's Book of Nutfield; Rockingham West; Horses and Other Domestic Animals; The Founders of Londonderry; Slavery; Manchester Centennial Exercises...and much more - please see the photos for the complete list.
Condition:
Clean covers and spine. There is bit of "bubbling" beneath the cloth near the bottom-right corner of the back cover. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Bright gilt on the front cover. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean and white with only a few random, light smudges; the contents page has a couple small, light foxing spots. "Compliments of Publisher" is written in ink on the front end paper. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
