About This Item
Vision Press, London 1974 hardcover, 8 3/4" x 5 1/2", with dust jacket Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcodes etc and some pencil underlining of text. Jacket flap blurb mounted verso ffep. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD clipped dust jacket. Red cloth-bound boards with gold type to spine, checklist of Drabble's novels & leading characters, and index. Graduate wives and wet nappies are not the whole of Margaret Drabble's subject matter; this full-length study of Drabble's first six novels reveal her continuing theme is social and spiritual puritanism. Mrs Myer's thesis is that like her heroines Margaret Drabble intellectually rejects the puritan inheritance but is nonetheless moulded by it; thus her novels form an extended analysis of the contemporary search for values.
