About This Item

Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1955. First Edition Later Printing 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. De Angeli, Marguerite. Vintage edition of these classic verses & rhymes for children, containing 376 rhymes + over 260 watercolor illustrations by the author. Orig. published in 1953/54, this is a 1955 printing of that First Edition. Large hardcover 4to ((9" x 12.5") has tan cloth-covered boards with a colorful picture of Mother Goose riding on front cover, lettered in blue & red to front/blue to spine. Interior is VG, but condition downgraded to just Good due to external soiling to both front & back cover, tearing of cloth at both ends of spine, frayed corners. Old gift inscription dated 1957 & names of several child owners to ffep; otherwise, clean & unmarked. The illustrations--some sketches, some full-page, full-color plates in both pen-and-ink & watercolors, are lovely, with sharp lines & clean margins. An occasional page is dogeared. Binding straight & strong; though hinges are loosening, they are intact. No DJ (missing). Our photos show the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day. SORRY: expedited domestic & international shipping will require preapproval of extra (at least double) postage per USPS rates.
