This is the first edition of Michael Glenny's translation of the work, which is considered to be the best translation by many native Russian speakers due to its rhythmic style.In the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.Bulgakov's devil - disguised as one Professor Woland - challenges the official atheism of the Soviet Union in this farcical satire.Mikhail Bulgakov's posthumously published novel is widely regarded as one of the most important works of twentieth century literature, and was heavily censored in the Soviet Union.
