About the author

JOSEPH LOWMAN is professor of psychology and assistant dean of arts and sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has won several awards for his own teaching and serves on the editorial boards of Teaching of Psychology, Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, and College Teaching.
