About This Item
One of the world's greatest 20th-century mathematicians and a former pupil show non-mathematical folk the pleasure and fascination that lies in the fabulous world of mathematics. Among other pleasures, Kasner tells the story of how his nephew invented the now-famous word "google.," but the book is easily the most accessible account of higher mathematics, still today. Turned me on to mathematics when I read it in high school. This copy is in good condition (13th printing) except for the cover, which has all its test remaining despite a couple of chunks torn out.
