About This Item
New York: Mystery Guild/Carrol & Graf, 2001. First Edition Thus. . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. A pair of stand-alone novellas ("Driving Lessons" and "Petals") from McBain, the Grand Master of the Police Procedural with his 87th Precinct mystery series. "Driving Lessons" features Detective Kate Logan sorting out forensics and eye witnesses to decide whether the car-pedestrian mishap was really a freak accident or just possibly murder. "Petals" is unusual for McBain, a spy thriller-love story in which American agent in Germany, Michael Henderson, finds himself falling in love with a tourist while on an assignment to find a terrorist-assassin named Lisa Beck when he realizes Beck's description exactly matches Karin's. Issued as a Mystery Guild book club edition -- First Printing, First Edition Thus. About 5 5/8 x 8 1/2 inches, 159 pages in black paper-covered boards with silver lettering on spine. The pictorially -designed dustjacket shows traffic accident and rose petal symbols against a black background and white and yellow lettering. Boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked, tight and square. The dj shows some minor wear along edges and at corners, no tears, no creasing or chipping, not corner-clipped. A collectable copy.
