Boston: Marsh, Capen, Lyon, & Webb, 1839. Third Edition. Cloth. 18mo. 278 pp + 3 pp ads at rear. Lilac cloth with blind debossed floral pattern, gilt titling to spine. Cloth soiled and sunned, especially at spine, with chipping to spine ends and small puncture mark to cloth at front joint. Spine cocked. Top 2 inches and bottom 1 inch of ffep removed with cutting tool, leaving center portion holding previous owner's pencil markings. Several leaves soiled, scattered foxing throughout. Gathering of pp. 193-204 partially detached but holding. Intended for the education of girls aged 10-16 years, with chapters on health, exercise, skin care, conversation, manners, dress, cooking, and housewifery.
