London: John Lane at The Bodley Head, 1928. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 9.5" by 7". Wilfred Jones. A limited edition copy of this illustrated memoir of Count de Grammont, translated into English. Limited to one thousand copies for Great Britain, of which this is number seventy-four. Illustrated with eight tipped-in plates of wood engravings. Collated complete. The memoirs of Philibert, Count de Grammont, a French courtier and soldier who was half-brother to Antoine III of Grammont, Marshal of France, and uncle of Catherine Charlotte de Gramont, Princess of Monaco. Written by Anthony Hamilton, an Irish-French soldier and writer. Translated to English by Horace Walpole, an English writer, art historian, antiquarian, politician, and man of letters. Illustrated by Wilfred Jones, an American illustrator. In the original quarter buckram with red cloth boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Age toning to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed
