Reader reviews for The Metropolis

From the publisher

Upton Sinclair (1878 - 1968) wrote over 90 books in several genres. He was considered to be a leading social advocate. Because of his novel The Jungle, which dealt with conditions in the meat packing industry, The Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act were passed. In 1943 he won a Pulitzer Prize for Dragon's Teeth. The Metropolis was published in 1908. Allan Montague arrives in New York and enters the lives of the "fashionable". He is accepted by the elite, because of his father, a general in the war. Allan begins to see the huge disparity between the social classes. When he sees an injustice befall the poor, he is the first to stand up for them. While fighting the lawsuit he begins to realize that the very people he is fighting with are the very people who rule New York. It will take skill and luck to survive this situation.
